  • 1 egg (beaten)

Steps to Prepare an Apple Pie with Cuisinart’s Air Fryer Oven:

The following are the steps that you should take to prepare the dessert, apple pie, in your home:

Preparation of the Pie Dough:

Add some flour, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Then, add the cold cubed butter inside the bowl. Afterwards, mix the butter with the flour through a pastry cutter, two forks, or fingertips until the mixture resembles rough crumbs that should have pea–sized bits of butter.

Now add the ice water gradually inside the bowl. You should add one tablespoon of ice water at a time. Gently mix the dough with a fork until it starts to clump. Afterwards, you should divide the dough into two halves vertically. Then, wrap the halves in some plastic wrap and refrigerate them for at least 1 hour and up to 2 days.

Preparation of the Pie Filling:

Now make 1/4th inch thick slices of apples by peeling, coring, and slicing them. Then, place these slices inside a bowl, add some lemon juice inside the bowl to prevent browning, and toss the bowl for perfect mixing. You should now add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a separate small bowl. Pour the spice mixture over your apples and toss them until every slice is completely coated. Then, set the apples aside.

Assembling of the Pie:

Now you should roll out one half of the dough into a 12 inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Then, slowly transfer it to a 9 inch pie plate and press the circle into the bottom and sides. And let the extra part of the circle hang on the plate’s edges.

Then, use a spoon to add your apple filling inside the crust and add a slightly higher amount of the filling in the centre. Plus, add small pieces of butter at the top of the apple filling.

Now roll out the other half of the dough into another 12 inch circle. Place the circle on the top of your plate directly, cut the dough’s extra edges, and add a few slits in the circle’s centre for venting.

Preparation for the Air Fryer Oven:

Well, it’s time to brush the top crust with the beaten egg. This brushing can provide you with a deep, golden-brown, and professional finish for the pie. Also, you should cover your pie plate with an aluminium foil loosely to prevent the crust from over-browning during your baking with Cuisinart’s air fryer oven.

Baking in Cuisinart Air-220:

Select “bake”  at Cuisinart’s air fryer oven and set the temperature to 375°F (190°C). Now set the time for 30 minutes on the appliance, and let it preheat. The preheating process is fast and usually takes only 2-3 minutes.

Then, place the pie plate inside the air fryer oven carefully. You should bake it while it’s covered in a foil tent at 375°F for 30 minutes. Now remove the foil tent from the pie plate. This lets the top of the crust to have its final and elegant baking colour during the next cooking period.

Now continue your baking for 15-25 minutes until the apple pie is done. Well, an apple pie is done when the top of its crust is golden brown, and the bubbles start coming out of the filling through the pie slits.

Then, the final part is to cool the apple pie for at least 3-4 hours for the filling’s proper setting. Otherwise, if you cut the pie while it’s hot, your filling would be soupy.
